POY Chairman Rick Willoughby has done it again. Here's what Rick has to say:
“While our prototype is a tad more svelte than the actual pipe, you can still see it'll be one that is comfortably clenched or held in the hand.
Sandblast finishes are a favorite of mine because they express the grain in three dimensions. They have a tactile quality, too. While I don't believe (as some do) that they smoke cooler, they're apparently cooler in the hand.
Ever had a pipe in a natural finish? They have a very interesting way of darkening as they're smoked. This color change will only accentuate the grain.
I'm excited about this year's POY. I'll be ordering one! Like our other POYs, we have one of the best that the pipe world has to offer at a great value for SPC members only. Remember that feeling you had when you missed out on a previous year's gem? Don't make that mistake again! This will be one of the truly great ones.
